ACRRM together with RANZCO and RACGP is proud to support a new pilot program to upskill Rural Generalists and GPs to deliver intravitreal injections (IVI) in rural and remote communities, under the supervision of ophthalmologists.
By building on the advanced skills Rural Generalists already provide, this collaborative initiative aims to improve timely access to sight-saving treatment closer to home for Australians living outside metropolitan areas.
Together, we're strengthening the rural medical workforce and improving access to essential healthcare where it's needed most.

ACRRM notes the recommendations by Her Honour Deputy State Coroner Kereru to distribute the following to our members regarding Section 7 of the South Australian Learner's Licence Application Form. Members who provide advice have a duty to protect all road users, which they must consider and exercise when a patient assessment suggests there are grounds to consider a danger. We encourage members to view the Inquest.
Meet the new Victoria Regional Director of Training: Dr Shaneil Fransch
Shaneil Fransch is ACRRM’s Regional Director of Training for Victoria and a Rural Generalist with Advanced Specialised Training in Emergency Medicine based in North East Victoria. He works as a Senior Medical Officer in emergency medicine, serves as Emergency Medicine Clinical Lead for the Victorian Rural Generalist Program and is Executive Director of Medical Services at Yarrawonga Health.
Born in Zimbabwe, Shaneil migrated to Australia with his mother and sister and settled in rural Victoria. Living with cerebral palsy, he spent much of his childhood using a wheelchair before treatment in Australia enabled him to walk. His mother’s career as a Rural Generalist shaped his understanding of rural medicine and later inspired both Shaneil and his sister to follow the same path. These experiences shaped his understanding of how geography and healthcare access affect health outcomes.
PRECISE, in partnership with Medcast, has designed the First Australian Genomics Portal PRECISE Genomics: primary care education | Medcast with the latest education and guidelines as well as e-learning, CPD modules and webinars. Over 600 rural communities benefiting from specialist dermatology advice
Between July 2025 and June 2026, GPs across Australia submitted 654 cases to ACRRM Tele-Derm, connecting rural, remote and regional communities with timely specialist dermatology and surgical support.
If you are not already registered, now is the time to join. ACRRM Tele-Derm gives you fast, practical access—no matter where you practise—to trusted specialist advice and education when you need it most.
Tele-Derm is available free to all ACRRM members and GPs working in MM3–MM7 locations.
Vacancy: Supervisor Liaison Officers in WA, QLD and VIC
ACRRM is actively seeking additional Supervisor Liaison Officers to join the college in Western Australia, Queensland and Victoria.
Reporting to the Regional Director of Training in each region, the Supervisor Liaison Officer (SLO) will work with the wider SLO team, ACRRM management and staff to ensure we have culturally safe, quality supervisor support occurring and a strong understanding of the landscape of supervision and delivery in ACRRM training environments across primary and secondary care, including in Aboriginal Medical Services and Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services.
Expression of interest: Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board South Australia
Expressions of interest are being sought for a new member to join the Voluntary Assisted Dying Review Board. Subject to final appointment by the Minister for Health and Wellbeing, the position is expected to commence in approximately August 2026 for a term of up to three years.

Expression of interest: Director position on Remote Vocation Training Scheme Ltd
Expression of Interest is open for a Director position on the Remote Vocational Training Scheme Ltd (RVTS) Board. RVTS is a not-for-profit company that delivers the Remote Vocation Training Scheme in partnership with the Australian government. The RVTS is a specialist general practice and Rural Generalist training program that enables doctors to undertake accredited postgraduate training while living and working in rural, remote and First Nations communities across Australia. The program provides an accredited pathway to fellowship of both ACRRM and RACGP.
