ACRRM strengthens reconciliation through ‘All In’ partnership and action
This year’s National Reconciliation Week theme, ‘All In’, calls on all Australians to take shared responsibility for advancing reconciliation and improving outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
ACRRM is reaffirming its commitment to reconciliation through its ongoing partnership with the Cultural Educators and Cultural Mentors Network (CECM).
CECM chair Professor Marlene Drysdale, who received an ACRRM Distinguished Service Award in 2025, says reconciliation depends on shared commitment, listening and learning.
“Our work with ACRRM helps Rural Generalists build the understanding and confidence needed to provide culturally safe care throughout their careers,” Professor Drysdale says.
National Reconciliation Week 2026: ACRRM, RACGP and JCTS strengthen commitment to culturally safe healthcare
This week, Joint Colleges Training Services (JCTS), the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) and the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) marked the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, embracing this year’s theme ‘All In’ – a call for all Australians to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every day.
All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have the right to culturally safe and responsive health care, free of racism and inequity. Despite a number of improvements in the health care system, substantial disparities remain in many health outcomes between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and non-Indigenous Australians.
ACRRM offers a structured, well-supported training program, with flexibility to tailor your scope of practice to community needs and your individual interests - no two days are the same.
Webinar - Syphilis in rural generalist practice: The great pretender is back
Thursday 11 June at 7:00pm AEST
Join FACRRM Dr Matt Ruhl, Sexual Health Physician Dr Kym Collins and General Practicioner Miriam Grotowski in this webinar exploring the rising rates of syphilis and other STIs in Australia, with a focus on rural and remote communities.
This practical webinar will help Rural Generalists and GPs recognise the diverse presentations of syphilis, interpret serology results, and apply best-practice management, including treatment, follow-up and partner notification. Participants will also gain strategies for effective sexual health history taking and learn about key referral pathways and resources to support rural practice.
Specifically for rural GP obstetricians and registrars working towards qualifications in the field, this conference focusses on what matters most - practical, relevant education that supports real-world decision-making in rural practice.
The program is delivered across two venues - the Sydney Clinical Skills and Simulation Centre at Royal North Shore Hospital and the Rural Doctors Network office - both located in St Leonards, supporting a mix of simulation and interactive learning.
To support busy clinical schedules and maintain small, interactive learning groups, the conference is being offered across two dates: 26-27 June and 9-10 October. Both deliver the same content. You can register for June now or join the waitlist for October, here.
