ACRRM welcomes additional medical school places, calls for stronger rural pipeline
ACRRM welcomes the Australian Government's announcement of an additional 50 Commonwealth-supported university medical places, saying the investment is an important step towards strengthening Australia's future medical workforce.
However, ACRRM says increasing the number of medical students must be accompanied by targeted measures that encourage more future doctors to choose careers in rural, remote and First Nations communities.
ACRRM President Dr Rod Martin says growing the medical workforce requires investment across the entire rural training pipeline.

New National Immunisation Dashboards
The Department of Health, Disability and Ageing has launched four new public immunisation dashboards covering Respiratory Vaccination, Childhood Vaccination, Adolescent Vaccination, and older Australians.
The dashboards provide timely access to national immunisation data, including vaccination coverage, doses administered, people vaccinated, trends over time, and insights into vaccination delivery settings and population characteristics. You can access these dashboards here.
Regional & Remote Bursaries available for ADM 2026 - A Dermoscopy Masterclass
Eligible clinicians working in MM3 to MM7 locations may receive a bursary worth up to $650 towards their registration. Bursaries are available to the first 100 eligible registrants.

Procedural skills in Victoria
The Victorian Team recently delivered a Procedural Skills Training Day for 20 junior medical officers and medical students at Albury Wodonga Health, in partnership with Albury Wodonga Health and the University of New South Wales. Dr Erin Hawkey, Dr Tess Goodwin, Dr Quinton Smith and Dr Shannon Elliot facilitated hands-on sessions covering lumbar puncture, thoracostomy, POCUS, ENT emergencies, nail bed repairs and Implanon insertion.
