The minimum four-year Fellowship combines Core Generalist Training with Advanced Specialised Training, giving you broad experience across primary, secondary and emergency care in a rural and remote context.
You'll complete at least 12 months of Advanced Specialised Training (AST), with a range of disciplines to choose from, including Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Paediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
You can train in general practices, hospitals, Aboriginal Medical Services and retrieval services, depending on your training requirements and chosen discipline.
Throughout your training, you'll be supported by experienced supervisors, medical educators and ACRRM's training team.
The College would like to advise that Dr Greg Gladman, National Director of Training, will be retiring on 11 December 2026.
In his role as National Director of Training, Greg has provided important leadership across ACRRM’s training program, helping to strengthen the quality and consistency of training and ensuring our approach remains grounded in the realities of rural and remote medical practice. Importantly, Greg’s contribution extends well beyond his position. He has been a generous colleague, mentor and advocate for Rural Generalist Medicine, and his experience and perspective will be greatly missed.
As the College prepares for this transition, we are now seeking an experienced and passionate FACRRM to take on the role of National Director of Training. This senior clinical and academic leadership position will provide strategic oversight of the clinical elements of the ACRRM Fellowship Program and support the ongoing development of Australia’s Rural Generalist workforce.

Response to the Independent Review of the HELP Debt Reduction Program report
The Australian Government Response to the Independent Review of the HELP Debt Reduction Program was tabled in the Australian Parliament on 13 August 2026.
The Response sets out the Australian Government's position on the nine recommendations made in the Review's Final Report. The Review assessed the design, delivery and effectiveness of the HELP Debt Reduction Program and identified opportunities to improve program uptake, administration and future evaluation.

North Queensland Primary Healthcare Network Limited (NQPHN) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified applicants to fill four upcoming vacancies on the NQPHN Board in November 2026. Of these, three Directors are retiring by rotation and are eligible to reapply, while one Director has reached the end of their maximum term and is not eligible for reappointment.

Nous has been engaged by the Department of Health and Aged Care on the effectiveness and impact of the General Practice in Aged Care Incentive (the Incentive) on the provision of primary care to residential aged care homes.
Members may have completed a previous iteration of the survey – results from this survey will be compared with previous results to understand changes in participation and satisfaction with the Incentive over time.
